AWESOME turnout Thursday night at The Med—thanks to all who came—it was GREAT getting together! We had about 11 of us—it was great! The RB51 Dinner Out idea has taken off—so we’d propose two dates for June; June 10th and 24th. For the night of the 10th we’re thinking about 6:00 at “The Colorado Coal Company” steakhouse in historic downtown Erie, http://www.coloradocoalcompany.com/, and for the night of the 24th we like 6:00 at The “Taj Mahal 3” at 95th and S. Boulder Road, http://www.tajmahal3.com/.

Please check your schedules and RSVP to RB51club@gmail.com about a week before, so we can confirm reservations…

PS: IMPORTANT! Please add the following email address to your “OK” senders list: RB51club@gmail.com. Starting soon, email about our class activities will come from that address via your social committee! Thanks!

OK—we’re starting to get a feel for the level of interest in these dinner ideas—and it’s mostly positive, so let’s try to do this a couple of times next month and see what happens… The 13th at The Med looks like it will be somewhat popular http://www.themedboulder.com/menus.html , and the idea of somewhere else on the 6th is big. Since the 6th falls right around CU graduation (which is why The Med didn’t work for that date) we decided to either go north or south for dinner—south won, and we’ve picked The Yak and Yeti at about 88th and Sheridan; http://www.theyakandyeti.com/ Time is 6 p.m., and we have an open reservation.

SO; what started out as a confusion is turning into a movement. All good things do.

No need to RSVP, unless you just like sending Jim emails—that’s AWESOME by the way—he loves it. Let’s eat, talk, rekindle and grow!

SUMMARY: May 6th, (Thursday) at 6:00, Yak and Yeti, 8665 N. Sheridan, Westminster
May 13, (Thursday) at 6:00, The Med, 1002 Walnut, Boulder

OMG—what a blast!

SALSA LESSONS FOR OUR CLASS!

Calling all Salsa Fans

I am finalizing the plans for a group Salsa class for our Rebuilding class. Based on the feedback I have received, it looks like it will be Mondays at 8:00 p.m. The cost will be no more than $10.00 per lesson, but will depend on how many people we have attending. I'm aiming for March 1st to start, but I don't know how many weeks long it will be yet. As soon as I hear back from everyone, I can finalized the plans and send out the correct information.

Please reply as soon as possible, and feel free to call (720-989-6003) or email me with any question.

For more information about the location of the dance studio go to www.boothdance.com . Please don't call the studio directly with questions about the class.

I hope to see everyone there.

Pam

Nissi's a big HIT!

Oh yeah, we rocked AND we rolled! Or, at least we dance our butts off!

Thanks to those that joined us at Nissi's last night for 'That 80s Band!' Eight of us made an appearance for dinner and loads of dancing. The group of girls celebrating a friends 21st birthday only added to the entertainment...

Darcy suggested we try for a follow up evening with Something Underground (a favorite local band). We plan to keep an eye out for dates and will let you know when there is a gig in the coming months.

Thanks to Lynn for working with me on getting last night together. It was a blast!

Dance!

WOW!

At last Thursday’s Salsa at the Avalon, we had TEN Rebuilders! What great fun! Darcy said it best: “You can’t get better fun for $8 !!” Turns out that Mike M is a secret salsa maniac, Jim L is a crazed lesson taking Latin macho man, and Denise….well, we have to follow Denise around with a fire extinguisher. HOT!

So, come one, come all—Salsa is every Thursday at The Avalon—speaking only for myself, I’m going until I get it right!

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8….

WHERE: Avalon Studio, 63rd and Arapahoe in Boulder

WHEN: 7:15, class starts at 7:30, open dance at 8:30…

ELEVENTH NIGHT UPDATE!

We have an update for the 11th Night plans!

DATE: Saturday, February 20th

LOCATION: Laura A’s place in Broomfield—which is a perfect equidistant drive for us all—excellent location! THANK YOU LAURA!!

She has reserved the Clubhouse at her complex for our fun! ALSO, and this is HUGE, she’s offered her home as a secondary location for babysitting…

SO—let’s make this a family friendly deal AND our 9th/10th Night continuation—

Family Friendly Pot Luck dinner at 5:00 with music and the whole bit… We have the BEST pot luck’s!

6:30 or thereabouts kids retreat to Laura’s place for some planned activities… We do our 9th/10th Night Question Fun! Everyone still have their list?

8:30 or thereabouts we all get back together for music! Laura reports that the clubhouse isn’t “huge,” but big enough—it’ll be GREAT! AWESOME!!

LIFE IS GOOD! We’ll need some of you who wish to bring kiddos to help plan some activities for them—and Laura has one 13 year old sitter—we could use at least one more of similar age to help watch the little ones…talk to your older kids and see if they are interested. If we all pitch in a couple of bucks we can pay sitters for the group and maybe buy a few activity related things—fun stuff for them to do!

After, we’ll all hang out and help Laura CLEAN UP! Many hands….

When: Feb. 5
Time: 7:30 until 11:00 PM

The deal on what to do to get us all together in one or two tables:

1) Go to http://www.clubnissis.com/nissis/thateightiesbandfeb52010.html to order your own ticket.
In speaking with Teresa at Nissi's she suggested you do this sooner rather than later

- In this comment box note: With Nancy Compton Group

3) Email me (please copy Lynn) when you have purchased your ticket
- Indicate if you noted in the comments with the group or not
- Note if you plan to join us for dinner

Lynn mentioned these folks are in for the evening, please still email to let me know when you have purchased your tix so I can make sure I confirm table seating with Nissi's before the event.

A few things to know:

The show starts at 7:30, but Nissi's offers a great small plate menu and bar.

at smaller prices, and designed to be shared and enjoyed throughout the
evening. We also serve wine and beer, along with a limited cocktail menu.

eleven…
“e•lev•en (noun) something in a numbered series with a value of 11”… and in this case it’s about time!

ANNOUNCING: Rebuilders Fall 09 Eleventh Night!

WHEN: Saturday, February 20th, 2010 at 5:00 pm

WHERE: OK sports fans—HELP!

A number of us have talked about this for the last couple of weeks—we need to get this together!

Best date on the calendar for most seems to be February 20th, a Saturday.

However: location, location, location… that’s the issue.

We’ll scale back the plans and skip the need for space to allow a dance—no problem there, we can still do some music—but we do need a spot for us all to land! We can do a dance another time, for a gathering that we can invite guests and kids and the whole 9 yards…

Current thoughts are that we need to have one of our MOST AMAZING pot luck’s, followed by taking care of “unfinished business,” and continuing our 9th and 10th night questions on relationships and sexuality. Could be lots of fun! Are you in?

If so, Mark the 20th on your calendar—and shoot me your ideas about WHERE we might pull this off!

Love you all!

Jim, Lynda, Denise and Steve

That Eighties Band at Nissi's

Hey Everybody!
Let's relive those 80's memories/songs on Feb. 5. I hope you saved that Friday.....Tickets are $12 and the show starts at 7:30 and they'll play until about 11 pm. I think Nancy was planning on working with Teresa to get us a table, etc., but I would like to know who is planning on going so we can get the ball rolling. Trust me, you don't want to miss out.

So, can you let Nancy or I know if you are planning on attending? We'll probably need to buy our tickets pretty quickly. You can go to www.nissis.com and buy your ticket NOW if you would like.

Hope to see you there!

Cowtown Goddess, C'est Moi!

Happy New Year my precious friends -
Thanks to Jim K. for choosing blogger.com as our social e-venue! I have recently revived an old blog on this site myself, and would like to invite you all to visit. This is an experiment in self-expression and for me. As I become more familiar and comfortable with the site, I plan to use it as a continuation of my RB progress. I'll be musing on divorce recovery, in slice-of-life observations. As the very trusted members of my new post-divorce family, I welcome your comments, suggestions and feedback! I imagine the possibility of an online continuation of our RB group work here, if anyone is iterested and the mood strikes. The best to all of you in 2010! Blessings! Lynda(www.cowtowngoddess.blogspot.com)

From The Carpenter Family!

PAMPERED CHEF FOR REBUILDERS!

We'll taste a delicious recipe, try tools that make kitchen tasks easier, and learn entertaining and cooking tips. And you won't believe how simple the recipes are! We can also catch up with each other while we shop.

Please let me know if you can make it. Mark the date on your calendar and ask a friend or two to come along!

From Jim L; NEW YEARS PARTY!

OK Rebuilders & Volunteers,

Here is the party you have been waiting for. It will be at Jim Lieberman’s house, 4145 Piedra Court, Boulder, CO 80301 on Thursday December 31 staring at 5:00 pm.

It will be a pot luck. Please bring one of the following. (1) Alcoholic or non alcoholic drink; juice, wine, beer, liquor. (2) Dish to share, appetizer, main course, or desert. (real food no chips)

I’m looking forward to seeing you all. Please feel free to bring a friend. There is very little on-street parking, but plenty in the back yard, so follow these directions:

From Iris & 28th Street go north on 28th past Palo Parkway, take the next right onto Juneau Road (a dirt road off 28th) (we will set up a sign). My home will be the 2nd house on the right. You will see a sign. Park in the back yard. Go through the gate. Walk around the house to the front door.
Come on in. Please take you shoes off in the front dinning room.

I am asking for volunteers to help set up and clean up. In addition I would like to think of some fun activities. Anyone willing to brain storm?

Let me know if you can assist with either. Email or call 303-589-6447

ADMIN UPDATE

FOLKS: Just F.Y.I., due to limitations of my at-home Internet connection, and as a result of the growing complexity of this blog, I will only be able to make administrative changes from my laptop when visiting a venue with high speed wireless access... Dial up just won't cut it, and in the Thompson Canyon that is all that is available to me. Some bells & whistles that might be requested, such as Google Maps and Event Schedulers may have to wait a day or two, but fear not--it'll get done! Thanks for understanding!! Happy Holiday's and LOVE to all! --Jim K

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

As we move forward together, I am reminded of that amazing 10th night. I am a more aware person thanks to the courage of John and Laura, and I'd like to say thanks!

Lynn

OMG TOO FUNNY!

Just had to try this... What FUN!

Avoiding those spammers

As we are all authoring on the blog I thought I would share a bit of wisdom on keeping your email address safe from those spammers. Many bloggers note their email addresses in various formats to do just that. An example with my email address is:

nancyjcompton (at) gmail (dot) com

Sending my thanks to Jim for making this so! What a great, easy method to keep up to date and stay in touch.

Happy Holidays!
Nancy

Christmas Day at Debbie's

Who is coming to Debbie's for Christmas dinner? I'll be there! Don't forget to RSVP her cell # is 303-885-0633 and her email is free2bmi2010(at)yahoo(dot)com. See you there!

PS This is also a test to see if I can actually post something.....

Eve says "Everybody Happy Hour!"

OMG you NEED to Happy Hour, and "in case you are not yet thoroughly convinced that you want to do this, just remember it is one way to keep getting our class together on a weekly basis. All you have to do is reserve every Tuesday for Rebuilding!

As a reminder in case you aren’t sure what this is all about... it is when Rebuilding grads get together some place to catch up and enjoy each other’s company. It starts at 5:30pm and goes until the last person leaves, usually about 9:00pm but you can come and go at whatever times work for you. There are usually 20-30 Rebuilders there including many that you already know (yes, me for one). There are those that choose to imbibe or not and those that choose to eat and those that choose not to. Hugs are a requirement (at least with Rebuilders that you know). :-)

The catch is finding out where the Meetup will be. The Happy Hour organizer is Wayne Minichiello and he posts this information on the Meetup site. You can also request to get on his email list and receive the same info in email (you could also requet alerts be sent from the Meetup site – the email list is for posterity sake, it was started before the Meetup). If you prefer to get on Wayne’s email list, please reply to him directly and request to be added; .

Hope to see you there!

From Pam 12-18-09; LET'S DANCE!

Wow, lots of great ideas. I would like to add my own. The dance studio where I take lessons does a 4 week ballroom dancing series. It's on Thursday nights from 7-8 with a practice dance party from 8-9. It's $48.00 for the month. This class runs every month, but I was thinking about doing it in Feb. The studio is in north Denver in the I-25 & Hwy 36 area. You can find more information at www.boothdance.com.

Have a great holiday season & I will see you after Jan 10th.

FROM DEBBIE H. 12-19-09, RE; CHRISTMAS DAY!

To my great RB friends ~

Want to extend an official invite for Christmas Day dinner at my sister’s place for anyone who wants to hang-out, eat, chat & have fun. My kids will be with the soon-to-be-ex so I’ll be with my family (mom/dad, sisters & bro-in-law) – would love to have more people as we’re used to a noisy household during the holidays! Here are the details:

· Bob & Nadine Holmblad Residence
· 526 Orion Ct., Longmont, CO 80504
· Friday, 12/25/09
· Around 4p – earlier or later as this is very casual & informal!
· No worries about what to bring: we’re pretty easy going folks. It’s always a potpourri/smorgasbord affair! Most important is for you to come & be with friends!
· FYI: shoes are left at the door; so as long as you don’t mind running around in your stocking feet, we don’t mind! Otherwise bring slippers!
· Also, we’re a nonsmoking household (mom is on oxygen) but you’re more than welcomed to brave the weather. There’s a nice view from the back deck!
· Could you RSVP to freebrats2001@yahoo.com so we can guesstimate how much to prepare – but not required cuz we always cook waaay too much food! We LOVE to eat!
· My cell #: 303-885-0633. Holmblad residence: 303-651-6996.

A little bit about the family for conversation:

· Dad (Jack) is 89 yrs old w/Alzheimer’s & dementia – you can talk to him all night about the same thing & he won’t remember a thing!!!! We call him “Jichan”.
· Mom (Mary) is 84 yrs old – on O2 due to years of smoking. Still loves to joke around & have fun. We call her “Bachan”. Celebrated their 60th anniversary but they can’t remember!
· Older sister #2 (Jackie) is … older than me – kind of bossy but doesn’t think so! Sales Rep at Rudi’s Bakery.
· Jackie’s partner (Alice) is … older than me – really easy going. Retired from owning a retail card & stationary store in Denver.
· Older sister #3 (Nadine) is … older than me – also kind of bossy but also doesn’t think so! Really lots of fun. Stocks groceries at the Gunbarrel King Soopers & cares for Mom/Dad during the day.
· Nadine’s husband (Bob) is … older than me too – really, really fun: considered one of the kids cuz he’s addicted to WOW (World of Witchcraft for the uninitiated!) and he’s a Mac genius (retired from Apple).

That’s it in a nutshell – yes, we’re a nutty family! So come on & join the fun! Forewarning – I love to play games so you might get roped into charades or something!!!!

Have a very safe (for those traveling) & happy holiday!

Regards,
Debbie

The 1st Annual Estes Park Winter Festival. 3 days of winter activities; free snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park (note that while the snowshoeing event is free, regular fees apply to enter the park--$20 per vehicle—couldn’t get the Govt. to comp the fees…) chili cook off, beer tent, wine tasting, snow man contests, scavenger hunt, cowboy sing along and ghost stories, live music at multiple venues, start gazing at the observatory, LOTS of family fun, Earth Fest seminars, films and educational display’s at Stanley Hotel… and more… All over MLK weekend (1-15 to thru 1-17). It’s a big event—we expect a couple thousand people over three days—would be fun for the RB community!

More general info is available at:

and specific to the Winter Trails snowshoeing day also at:
http://estesparkcvb.com/events.cfm?mode=cat_overview&listing_cat_id=1578 ;

and specific to the Earth Fest at:

We could arrange a meeting point for RB’s, and take it from there!
Wahoo! Winter FUN in the Rockies!

Other ideas that folks have brought up:

· From Lynn and Nancy:
Feb. 5th 'That 80s Band' will be at Nissi's. The early gig runs from 7:30-10:00 and is $12 per ticket. http://www.nissis.com/lmcalfeb.html. Lynn and Nancy have talked with some of the group that are interested in going and shaking their groove thing to the tunes that take many of us back to the days of Madonna. More news about this is in the works, but you might want to save the date!

· From Darcy:

Also, for event suggestions. . .the Folks Festival in Lyons in August!

· From Debbie H:

Will get the info out regarding Christmas day soon…
