From Jim L; NEW YEARS PARTY!

OK Rebuilders & Volunteers,

Here is the party you have been waiting for. It will be at Jim Lieberman’s house, 4145 Piedra Court, Boulder, CO 80301 on Thursday December 31 staring at 5:00 pm.

It will be a pot luck. Please bring one of the following. (1) Alcoholic or non alcoholic drink; juice, wine, beer, liquor. (2) Dish to share, appetizer, main course, or desert. (real food no chips)

I’m looking forward to seeing you all. Please feel free to bring a friend. There is very little on-street parking, but plenty in the back yard, so follow these directions:

From Iris & 28th Street go north on 28th past Palo Parkway, take the next right onto Juneau Road (a dirt road off 28th) (we will set up a sign). My home will be the 2nd house on the right. You will see a sign. Park in the back yard. Go through the gate. Walk around the house to the front door.
Come on in. Please take you shoes off in the front dinning room.

I am asking for volunteers to help set up and clean up. In addition I would like to think of some fun activities. Anyone willing to brain storm?

Let me know if you can assist with either. Email or call 303-589-6447

Jim Lieberman

ADMIN UPDATE

FOLKS: Just F.Y.I., due to limitations of my at-home Internet connection, and as a result of the growing complexity of this blog, I will only be able to make administrative changes from my laptop when visiting a venue with high speed wireless access... Dial up just won't cut it, and in the Thompson Canyon that is all that is available to me. Some bells & whistles that might be requested, such as Google Maps and Event Schedulers may have to wait a day or two, but fear not--it'll get done! Thanks for understanding!! Happy Holiday's and LOVE to all! --Jim K

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

As we move forward together, I am reminded of that amazing 10th night. I am a more aware person thanks to the courage of John and Laura, and I'd like to say thanks!

what do we do now ????

Hey RBr's. I know we all don't have kids, or kids that are younger than 13. However I think a lot of us do. What kind of event can we do that's kid friendly?

Lynn

OMG TOO FUNNY!

Just had to try this... What FUN!

Avoiding those spammers

As we are all authoring on the blog I thought I would share a bit of wisdom on keeping your email address safe from those spammers. Many bloggers note their email addresses in various formats to do just that. An example with my email address is:

nancyjcompton (at) gmail (dot) com

Sending my thanks to Jim for making this so! What a great, easy method to keep up to date and stay in touch.

Happy Holidays!
Nancy

Christmas Day at Debbie's

Who is coming to Debbie's for Christmas dinner? I'll be there! Don't forget to RSVP her cell # is 303-885-0633 and her email is free2bmi2010(at)yahoo(dot)com. See you there!

PS This is also a test to see if I can actually post something.....

Eve says "Everybody Happy Hour!"

OMG you NEED to Happy Hour, and "in case you are not yet thoroughly convinced that you want to do this, just remember it is one way to keep getting our class together on a weekly basis. All you have to do is reserve every Tuesday for Rebuilding!

As a reminder in case you aren’t sure what this is all about... it is when Rebuilding grads get together some place to catch up and enjoy each other’s company. It starts at 5:30pm and goes until the last person leaves, usually about 9:00pm but you can come and go at whatever times work for you. There are usually 20-30 Rebuilders there including many that you already know (yes, me for one). There are those that choose to imbibe or not and those that choose to eat and those that choose not to. Hugs are a requirement (at least with Rebuilders that you know). :-)

The catch is finding out where the Meetup will be. The Happy Hour organizer is Wayne Minichiello and he posts this information on the Meetup site. You can also request to get on his email list and receive the same info in email (you could also requet alerts be sent from the Meetup site – the email list is for posterity sake, it was started before the Meetup). If you prefer to get on Wayne’s email list, please reply to him directly and request to be added; .

Hope to see you there!
Eve

From Pam 12-18-09; LET'S DANCE!

Wow, lots of great ideas. I would like to add my own. The dance studio where I take lessons does a 4 week ballroom dancing series. It's on Thursday nights from 7-8 with a practice dance party from 8-9. It's $48.00 for the month. This class runs every month, but I was thinking about doing it in Feb. The studio is in north Denver in the I-25 & Hwy 36 area. You can find more information at www.boothdance.com.

Have a great holiday season & I will see you after Jan 10th.

Pam

FROM DEBBIE H. 12-19-09, RE; CHRISTMAS DAY!

To my great RB friends ~

Want to extend an official invite for Christmas Day dinner at my sister’s place for anyone who wants to hang-out, eat, chat & have fun. My kids will be with the soon-to-be-ex so I’ll be with my family (mom/dad, sisters & bro-in-law) – would love to have more people as we’re used to a noisy household during the holidays! Here are the details:

· Bob & Nadine Holmblad Residence
· 526 Orion Ct., Longmont, CO 80504
· Friday, 12/25/09
· Around 4p – earlier or later as this is very casual & informal!
· No worries about what to bring: we’re pretty easy going folks. It’s always a potpourri/smorgasbord affair! Most important is for you to come & be with friends!
· FYI: shoes are left at the door; so as long as you don’t mind running around in your stocking feet, we don’t mind! Otherwise bring slippers!
· Also, we’re a nonsmoking household (mom is on oxygen) but you’re more than welcomed to brave the weather. There’s a nice view from the back deck!
· Could you RSVP to freebrats2001@yahoo.com so we can guesstimate how much to prepare – but not required cuz we always cook waaay too much food! We LOVE to eat!
· My cell #: 303-885-0633. Holmblad residence: 303-651-6996.

A little bit about the family for conversation:

· Dad (Jack) is 89 yrs old w/Alzheimer’s & dementia – you can talk to him all night about the same thing & he won’t remember a thing!!!! We call him “Jichan”.
· Mom (Mary) is 84 yrs old – on O2 due to years of smoking. Still loves to joke around & have fun. We call her “Bachan”. Celebrated their 60th anniversary but they can’t remember!
· Older sister #2 (Jackie) is … older than me – kind of bossy but doesn’t think so! Sales Rep at Rudi’s Bakery.
· Jackie’s partner (Alice) is … older than me – really easy going. Retired from owning a retail card & stationary store in Denver.
· Older sister #3 (Nadine) is … older than me – also kind of bossy but also doesn’t think so! Really lots of fun. Stocks groceries at the Gunbarrel King Soopers & cares for Mom/Dad during the day.
· Nadine’s husband (Bob) is … older than me too – really, really fun: considered one of the kids cuz he’s addicted to WOW (World of Witchcraft for the uninitiated!) and he’s a Mac genius (retired from Apple).

That’s it in a nutshell – yes, we’re a nutty family! So come on & join the fun! Forewarning – I love to play games so you might get roped into charades or something!!!!

Have a very safe (for those traveling) & happy holiday!

Regards,
Debbie

UPDATES 12-18-09

Rebuilders, Fall ’09:

WHAT AMAZING RESPONSES to all of the ideas we’ve been discussing! YOU PEOPLE ARE TRULY WONDERFUL! We can’t wait to dive in to some of these activities… Some updates and new ideas:

· HAPPY HOUR this Friday the 18th at OSKAR BLUES in Longmont—which is around Hover and the Diag.—can’t miss the silo… Thanks for the idea Emily! Folks are making their way starting about 4:30, some won’t arrive till 6:00 or so, and will go till ???

· Saturday the 19th Denise is planning to attend the “Swing into the Holidaze” performance by the Frequent Flyers. It’s at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder and the show starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $18 and general admission. If you have never seen the Frequent Flyers they are amazing – it’s all aerial stuff, swings, stilts, ropes from the ceiling... check it out at: http://thedairy.frontgatetickets.com/choose.php?a=1&lid=37712&eid=44164. Email Denise if you can join her!

· About the Pampered Chef party, that’s in the works—will get info out as soon as possible. Turns out that Laura C. is a Pampered Chef facilitator—how cool is that? She’s agreed to help host this party! Thanks again to Darcy for hosting! Dates under consideration are late January to early February—more info will follow!

· Lynda is offering additional copies of the Love Book—email her directly if you want to order another copy or missed out on the first round! This is something we’ll all cherish for many years to come! Thank you Lynda and all those who helped with this!

· There is LOTS of stuff happening on the Rebuilding page at Meetup.com, and if you have not had a chance to register it’s quick, free, and relatively painless… Check it out at: http://www.meetup.com/Rebuilding-When-Your-Relationship-Ends/

· There is talk about organizing our communications regarding our class activities on our own BLOG, and/or incorporating our announcements and reply threads within the Meetup.com page… The Meetup.com format already exists, and works pretty slick—and there are advantages to our own blog also... There may be cost—don’t know about that yet… Anyone have time to follow up on this idea? Please?

· SALSA!! What the hell was Jim thinking when suggesting “the week between Christmas and New Years…” That Thursday IS New Years! Duh! Well—January then! Sometime after Norm’s Grad Classes!

· New Year’s Party at Jim L’s house! Oh yeah! Sounds like a BLAST! Email Jim L directly for more information—and watch for additional emails about this!

· Bowling Night! You better believe it we’ll bowl! Lots of interest already in this idea—watch for emails about schedules!

· 11th Night! Sex, drugs, Rock & Roll….just kidding—but we got your attention! Still need a location—anyone have any ideas?

The 1st Annual Estes Park Winter Festival. 3 days of winter activities; free snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park (note that while the snowshoeing event is free, regular fees apply to enter the park--$20 per vehicle—couldn’t get the Govt. to comp the fees…) chili cook off, beer tent, wine tasting, snow man contests, scavenger hunt, cowboy sing along and ghost stories, live music at multiple venues, start gazing at the observatory, LOTS of family fun, Earth Fest seminars, films and educational display’s at Stanley Hotel… and more… All over MLK weekend (1-15 to thru 1-17). It’s a big event—we expect a couple thousand people over three days—would be fun for the RB community!

More general info is available at:
http://estesparkcvb.com/events.cfm?mode=cat_overview&listing_cat_id=1595 ;

and specific to the Winter Trails snowshoeing day also at:
http://estesparkcvb.com/events.cfm?mode=cat_overview&listing_cat_id=1578 ;

and specific to the Earth Fest at:
http://estesearthfest.wordpress.com/2009/10/26/welcome-to-estes-earth-fest-2/ .

We could arrange a meeting point for RB’s, and take it from there!
Wahoo! Winter FUN in the Rockies!

Other ideas that folks have brought up:

· From Lynn and Nancy:
Feb. 5th 'That 80s Band' will be at Nissi's. The early gig runs from 7:30-10:00 and is $12 per ticket. http://www.nissis.com/lmcalfeb.html. Lynn and Nancy have talked with some of the group that are interested in going and shaking their groove thing to the tunes that take many of us back to the days of Madonna. More news about this is in the works, but you might want to save the date!

· From Darcy:

Also, for event suggestions. . .the Folks Festival in Lyons in August!

· From Debbie H:

Will get the info out regarding Christmas day soon…

WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK! THANKS!

Lynda, Steve, Denise and Jim
